China reports big rise in diamond tradingChina reports big rise in diamond trading www.chinaview.cn 2004-05-01 12:37:14 SHANGHAI, May 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Business turnover in diamond trading reported a 39 percent rise year-on-year to 80.8 million USdollars during the first quarter of this year at the Shanghai Diamond Trading Center, the bourse for diamond trading in the Chinese mainland. A continuing rise in diamond wholesale price in international markets shored up the trading in Shanghai, with the volume registered in March hitting a record high. In March, trading of diamond totaled at 40.7 million dollars, up 91 percent year-on-year, with diamond imports rising 48 percentto 12.2 million dollars, and raw diamond trade soaring 270 percentto 3.71 million dollars. Trade raw diamond accounted for 10.45 percent of the total trading volume during the first quarter of this year, rising many times over the previous year. Enditem Related Story
