RE: Water Saturation

RE: Water SaturationDoes not reduce the effective porosity of the reservoir. Water saturation is calculated so that you can determine the oil saturation of the rock. In the Brenda area the Forties, the water saturation is 15% then the rock is 85% oil saturated. The porosity in the Forties sand at Brenda is filled up with 85% oil and 15% water. This water is not moveable and will stay in contact with the sand grains. Water cuts are the amount of free moving water produced during a flow test or production in relationship to another medium such as oil and gas. If a well flowed oil and water with a water cut of 20% then the oil cut was 80%. The presence of water during a flow test suggests that the well is close to the oil water contact.
