Johnston to the company's board of directors. Mr. Johnston is a senior executive with extensive financial and operational experience in the forestry and energy industries. Mr. Johnston was president of West Fraser Timber Co. as well as having served as chief financial officer of that company. His background includes considerable experience in developing and managing large capital-intensive projects. Mr. Johnston is a director of North Island Power Corp. of Vancouver, where he was instrumental in that company's successful bid and subsequent negotiation of a 25-year agreement to supply B.C. Hydro with electricity. North Island Power Corp. is constructing a six-megawatt biomass-fuelled electricity-generating plant at Port Clements, B.C. Prior to North Island Power, Mr. Johnston was one of the founding shareholders of Princeton CoGeneration Corp., where he participated in the development of a 60,000-tonnes-per-year pellet plant at Princeton, B.C. A chartered accountant, Mr. Johnston began his career as a founding partner of a chartered accountant firm at Quesnel, B.C. "We are pleased to welcome Mr. Johnston to the board of IBR, where his industry experience and financial background will provide us with valuable strategic insights as we implement our growth strategy," said Elmer B. Friesen, president and chief executive officer at IBR. As a widely respected independent director, Mr. Johnston will serve on the company's audit committee.
