Possible error in the date.News/ 2004-01-13 It seems to have a mistake in the date for this news on the web site. For the new that can be very significant. On the web site, it's writing jannuary 2003 with the place 2004 On CNW, It's correct" 2004-01-13 (CNW) Appalaches Resources Inc. - Mont-de-l'Aigle exploration accelerates, 8,000 metre drill program approved. Attention Business Editors: Appalaches Resources Inc. - Mont-de-l'Aigle exploration accelerates, 8,000 metre drill program approved RIMOUSKI, Jan. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - Following a review of the results from the first phase of the Mont-de-l'Aigle drill program, the Company has scheduled an aggressive follow-up drill program. An 8,000 metre diamond drill program to test deeper geophysically indicated extensions of the near-surface mineralization will begin soon. The results of the first drill program conducted on the Mont-de-l'Aigle property confirm the existence three fault and breccia-hosted chalcopyrite, hematitic magnetite and pyrite bodies comparable to important world-class iron- oxide copper-gold deposits. The main mineralized structure defined to date is 200 to 500 metres wide and has a strike length of more than 2 Kms. During the first phase of the 2003 drill program (1,230 metres), 12 holes were completed into the three mineralized structures. Ten of the holes intersected mineralized hematite breccias from 2 to 5 metres thick. Two of the holes were abandoned due to difficult drilling conditions. The following table summarizes the mineralization encountered in drilling to date. << Summary results of drill program Drilling Localisation Direction Inclinaison No. showing F03-01 Mt Aigle 90 degrees 70 degrees F03-01 Mt Aigle F03-02 Mt Aigle 135 degrees 55 degrees F03-04 Pardiac 100 degrees 45 degrees F03-04 Pardiac F03-04 Pardiac F03-04 Pardiac F03-05 Pardiac 100 degrees 45 degrees F03-05 Pardiac F03-05 Pardiac F03-05 Pardiac F03-05 Pardiac F03-05 Pardiac F03-06 Pardiac 100 degrees 45 degrees F03-06 Pardiac F03-06 Pardiac F03-07 Pardiac 280 degrees 53 degrees F03-07 Pardiac F03-09 Duchesne 120 degrees 45 degrees F03-09 Duchesne F03-10 Duchesne 120 degrees 60 degrees F03-11 Duchesne 120 degrees 45 degrees F03-11 Duchesne F03-12 Nord/Duchesne 75 degrees 70 degrees F03-12 Nord/Duchesne F03-12 Nord/Duchesne F03-12 Nord/Duchesne F03-12 Nord/Duchesne Drilling Localisation From To Length Average No. showing (m) (m) (m) copper F03-01 Mt Aigle 173.6 173.75 0.15 1.10 % F03-01 Mt Aigle 249.95 250.35 0.40 2.39 % F03-02 Mt Aigle 115.0 130.5 15.5 0.25 % F03-04 Pardiac 2.50 3.0 0.50 1.36 % F03-04 Pardiac 2.5 8.4 5.90 0.56 % F03-04 Pardiac 5.7 8.4 2.70 0.84 % F03-04 Pardiac 6.7 7.0 0.30 3.74 % F03-05 Pardiac 2.0 10.65 8.70 0.54 % F03-05 Pardiac 2.0 30.0 28.0 0.21 % F03-05 Pardiac 4.9 5.3 0.40 1.13 % F03-05 Pardiac 6.2 6.7 0.50 1.31 % F03-05 Pardiac 7.8 8.0 0.20 4.50 % F03-05 Pardiac 9.5 9.8 0.30 1.20 % F03-06 Pardiac 1.8 51.0 49.2 0.14 % F03-06 Pardiac 3.3 3.8 0.50 3.77 % F03-06 Pardiac 16.0 16.35 0.35 1.61 % F03-07 Pardiac 18.3 23.5 5.20 0.12 % F03-07 Pardiac 36.1 36.3 0.20 1.22 % F03-09 Duchesne 9.8 11.8 2.00 0.35 % F03-09 Duchesne 11.2 11.8 0.60 1.01 % F03-10 Duchesne 6.8 11.7 4.90 0.11 % F03-11 Duchesne 10.5 16.0 5.5 0.11 % F03-11 Duchesne 10.5 11.0 0.50 1.02 % F03-12 Nord/Duchesne 82.1 96.1 14.0 0.14 % F03-12 Nord/Duchesne 143.4 167.2 23.8 0.15 % F03-12 Nord/Duchesne 157.7 158.1 0.40 1.37 % F03-12 Nord/Duchesne 157.7 167.2 9.50 0.29 % F03-12 Nord/Duchesne 166.7 167.2 0.50 1.37 % >> These drill results, taken together with the compiled geological information gathered over two years of trenching operations indicate that the mineralized structure could represent the cap of an important copper deposit. The Mont-de-l'Aigle property contains volcano-sedimentary rocks that have been intruded by mafic and felsic dikes and sills. The mineralization occurs as chalcopyrite, hematite, magnetite and pyrite in breccias and stockworks, in mantos type replacement zones and along the contacts with mafic dikes. The mineralization is associated with gravity and magnetic anomalies and responds well to induced polarization (IP) and resistivity exploration methods. Soil geochemistry has proven to be very effective in locating new mineralization. The mineral deposit model so far generated by exploration results suggest that Mont-de-l'Aigle should be classified as a Cordilleran- type copper and iron-oxide occurrence as described abundantly in the geological literature. Ressource Appalaches will aggressively begin the 2004 exploration program with an ambitious 8,000 metre drill program that will target deeper copper- gold zones, particularly beneath the large main mineralized zone. You can also obtain additional information on the Company on its web site www.ressourcesappalaches.com. All samples described in this press release are selected surface grab samples. Assays were performed by Chimitec in Val d'Or, using atomic absorption. The contents of this press release were prepared by Alain Hupe, geologist in charge of field operations.
