POIRIER PROJECTI guess that the potential impact of the deal was not conveyed in the News Release. First of all, NORANDA identified the target and is the operator. If anyone knows the Matagami camp, it's Noranda. Their interest would suggest that the target has size potential and, given the location, one should have a pretty good feel for what the target mineralisation is.
I would suggest checking out the Globex web site and reading up on the Poirier Mine. It operated for 9 years, and 4.67 million tons of copper grading 2.222% and 748,000 tons of zinc grading 5.58% were mined and milled. There was also 250,000 ounces of silver produced from the mine. It was developed on 18 levels and a had shaft down to 2,500 feet. It milled 1,500 tons a day (2,500 if one counts custom milling) which is a significant operation. Globex still retains 100% ownership.
If this project works, which in itself would be great for Globex, maybe there is also an incentive to revisit additional areas around the mine...maybe it has value for access of ventilation...there are all sorts of possibilities.
