Well Development?

Well Development?Maybe you could explain just how a well is developed. I understand that they first drill the hole and take samples on the way down. Once they reach their total depth, what happens then? I assume they incase the hole in cement. As you have pointed out, they have indications of oil and gas at a number of places. How do they decide what areas to develope? Do they always start at the lowest point? If they start at one of the higher points, can they still go back and develope the lower areas? Any explanation would help. Thanks.
