Mesa Air's August Traffic Soars

Mesa Air's August Traffic Jumps 76.7 Percent, Traffic for Year Climbs 81.6 Percent
PHOENIX (AP) -- Mesa Air Group Inc. said Tuesday that August traffic rose 76.7 percent, while traffic for the year to date climbed 81.6 percent.
The airline flew 544.4 million revenue passenger miles during the month, a substantial jump from 308.1 million flown during the same period last year. A revenue passenger mile is one paying passenger flown one mile.
Monthly load factor, or the percentage of seats filled, increased 6.4 percentage points to 73.6 percent from 67.2 percent a year earlier. Passengers carried during the month rose 59.9 percent to 1.1 million from 682,480 a year ago, while Mesa's monthly capacity increased 61.2 percent to 739.8 million available seat miles from 458.9 million last year.
For the year to date, Mesa flew 3.6 billion revenue passenger mile, up from about 2 billion last year. Load factor rose 7.6 percentage points to 71.8 percent from 64.2 percent in the same period last year.
The airline carried 7.2 million passengers for the year to date, up 61.5 percent from 4.5 million a year earlier, while available seat miles climbed 62.6 percent to 5 billion from 3.1 billion a year ago.
Mesa recorded a controllable completion rate, which excludes weather-related cancellations, of 97.9 percent in August, and an on-time arrival rate of 72.5 percent during the month.
