MONTREAL, Oct 13, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Plaintree Systems Inc. announced that three of its WaveBridge 5100 LED wireless network datalink products were used as one of the main information backbones connecting the Olympic Stadium to other venues. Plaintree's WaveBridge 5100 product was chosen by the producers of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Jack Morton Public Events & its main partner The P.A. People, one of Australia's leading suppliers and integrators of public address systems. These links were essential in the production of Opening and Closing Ceremonies shows that were seen by television viewers world-wide.
"We are very proud to announce this important installation of our technology" said David Watson, Plaintree CEO. "Due to the Olympic Commission's concerns about security, we have not been able to make this announcement until now. The key considerations of Jack Morton Public Events were eye safety, bandwidth and security. Plaintree's WaveBridge 5100 system is an LED based system that provides unconditional eye safety, unlike the competing laser systems that may have restrictions on use. Also Plaintree's WaveBridge product line is not susceptible to Radio Frequency (RF) saturation that can affect the true bandwidth throughput of competing RF and microwave solutions. Our WaveBridge line of products is one of the most secure means of Wireless communication and has a beam wide enough that reported earthquakes during the event had no effect on our connectivity."
A spokesman for Jack Morton stated: "We spent a lot of time reviewing all of the wireless technologies available and finally decided on the Plaintree WaveBridge product. We found it extremely easy to install and the equipment exceeded our requirements."
