OLED TV screens

Watching "Studio 2" on TV Ontario friday night and one of the segments was on new tech available for Christmas. On large screen TV's Shawn Carruthers thought LCD's were the future with many inprovements to come. Andy Walker thought OLED was the future with Epson & Philips prototype 40" screens available for $1000 in 2006-07 time frame. They could be wall size, light, thin, bright and cheap to make. Any thoughts?
