RE: NEW clinical trial RESULTS reported in paperONE2DUMB
if you bothered to read the 2nd paragraph of the first page of the paper (i know that might be asking too much) you would have realized it said "16 patients with incurable metastatic cancer were interviewed prior to being accepted into the phase I trial with a semi-structured expectations interview"
that means these interviews were conducted BEFORE they were treated (that also means this paper has little to do with detailed results as many here misleadingly try to point out)
under table 1, it lists the patient number (presumably in the order they were treated) and the days from interview till death - notice that patient 2 has the highest days from interview till death - which would seemingly corroborate that patient number represents the order they were treated.
it is also suggestive that this report was written about 200 days after the date (nov 29, 2001) the last patient was enrolled (assumes they were interviewed a week before being treated).
that would put the report date around may or june of 2002, which is reasonably consistent with the patient #2 being interviewed shortly after commencement of the trail in Jun 2000.
so this report was written sometime in May/June 2002, submitted over 2 years later in Oct 2004 and accepted 3 months after submission.
my question - what was this report doing sitting on a shelf for 2 years? and where are the detailed results of the actual trial?
and why didn't/doesn't onc issue a press release updating the ongoing status of these patients?
more questions than answers like usual.
