I still stand by the statement that SamSys provided a lot of expertise and the only reader to the project (this is good). It is conjecture on my part that others benefited more than SamSys. After all SamSys was the Guru when it comes to RFID applications. Others learned from SamSys's knowledge and expertise, no doubt about it in my mind. And I'm sure SamSys picked up some valuable expertise as well. The negative point raised has to do with timing. Companies like Intermec, have now had 7 months to use the information they gained to strengthen their position.
Your point about IBM using SamSys's code and the relationship that has ensued tells me just how valuable SamSys is. They are considered a LEADER in an emerging industry. So good, that I don't think they stand a chance on their own,longer term. IBM seems to like Sammy a lot!
Future bright for SamSys, ABSOLUTELY ! If I didn't think so I would have sold at least some of my overweight position. However I haven't sold a share and bought more today, to average down which I dislike doing.
I've learned from my past mistakes that ALL the companies I invest in will be viewed with a critical eye. Especially ones where I'm down significant $$ on paper.
