Regina Demonstration Plant Operations
Operations at the Regina Demonstration Plant are currently focusing on optimizing the Wet Plant valuable mineral recoveries, which will last until the end of February 2005. Our focus will then shift to increasing the Dry Mill valuable mineral recoveries until the end of May 2005.
Specific attention is being given to the optimization of the Wet Gravity Circuit to maximize the overall recovery of Titanium Corporation’s products (ilmenite, zircon and leucoxene). Test work done to date has focused on the optimum spiral feed rates and slurry densities. Spiral concentrators from different manufacturers are also being evaluated.
A six-month program was launched in early January 2005 to obtain samples directly from Syncrude’s Plant 6 Tailings on a daily basis. These samples are evaluated at the Regina Demonstration Plant for fines and total heavy mineral content, using methods that are typical in the mineral sands industry. This data is related back to production data from Syncrude Canada Ltd. and will substantiate the resource’s mineral content and consistency.
