It seems to me that the deposit must have been close to the economic threshold back then for someone to have gone through the trouble of poking so many holes in it. I'm sure they weren't contemplating as large a tonnage operation as we are now looking at either.
This is very encouraging, since I'm sure many advancements in process technology have been made since then.
Does anyone have any idea of the market conditions for iron, titanium, vanadium at that time?
