Douglas Casey, writing in the April 1, 2005, issue of his International Speculator, refreshes his latest buy of Altius Minerals Corp. at $3.65. Mr. Casey said buy three times between September, 2001, and April, 2004, at prices from 51 cents to $3.44. An investment of $1,000 each time would be worth $9,990 today. Mr. Casey says Altius's most recent move was to sell the Rambler copper-gold project in Newfoundland to Rambler Mines Ltd., which is working on a London listing. That listing should finance Rambler with the equivalent of about $18.5-million and leave Altius holding about one-third of the new company. Altius has confirmed continuity of the mineralization, and found more at depth. The company hopes for a relatively short path to renewed production. Altius is an exploration company, not a mining company, hence the spinoff. The next phase of exploration will include 28,000 metres of drilling. In other news, a geophysics crew is heading up to Labrador to do more work on the Michikimau nickel project, a joint venture with Teck. Mr. Casey says Altius has several projects approaching the end of their exploration cycles, "so expect a steady flow of news that could propel the stock much higher.
