True North Renews Memorandum with the Ross River Dena and
Completes Winter Mobilization for Emerald Program
=======================================================================
Vancouver, April 12, 2005 - True North Gems (TGX: TSX-V) is pleased to
announce the completion of its winter mobilization into its wholly
owned Tsa da Glisza emerald property in the Finlayson Lake area of the
Yukon Territory, and the signing of a renewed Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) with the Ross River Dena Council.
True North commenced its 2005 emerald exploration program in mid-March
with a winter mobilization that has now been successfully completed.
True North has moved the bulk of fuel, equipment and supplies required
for the 2005 exploration season into the Tsa da Glisza property via a
winter road. True North also replaced equipment important to the
continued growth of the Tsa da Glisza property and removed obsolete and
spent equipment and supplies. The winter mobilization represents
significant cost savings for True North and is the first phase of its
2005 exploration program for the emerald property.
True North will begin the second phase of its emerald exploration
program in early June. The program has a proposed budget of $1.5
million and will focus on excavation and bulk sample testing from both
the Shadow Zone at Howdy Ridge and the mineralized zones at Regal
Ridge.
True North originally signed an MOU with the Ross River Dena Council in
2003, renewed it in 2004 and has again renewed it. The MOU forms a
framework for a continued working relationship with the Ross River
Dena. The agreement recognizes True North's ownership of the mineral
rights for the property and commits the Company to working with the
Ross River Dena to develop the project and establish an impact benefits
agreement, prior to establishing an operating mine.
In recognition of the mutual agreement and respect that has been
established between the Company and the Ross River Dena, True North
re-named its Yukon emerald property the Tsa da Glisza Project last year
following a drum ceremony. Tsa da Glisza is a name formally drawn from
the Kaska language by the elders of the Ross River Dena which means
"green stone".
