RE: Yemen NewsCantex Mine Development Corp. - Core drilling in Yemen - The first hole intersects disseminated and massive sulfides
KELOWNA, BC, May 13 /CNW/ - Cantex Mine Development Corp (CD - TSX
Venture Exchange) ("Cantex" or the "Company").
On April 27, 2005 the Company reported that core drilling would shortly
commence along a 1.1 km electromagnetic (UTEM) geophysical anomaly at its
Suwar nickel, copper, cobalt project in Yemen. Drilling has now started and
the on-site Yemeni geologist reports that disseminated (5-25%) sulfides were
intersected from 31 to 84 metres and massive sulfides from 79 to 80 metres in
the first hole (Y005-6) drilled. The hole was drilled at minus 45 degrees, at
an orientation normal to the UTEM anomaly, and bottomed at 112 meters. It is
located 500 meters from the previously drilled mineralization at Suwar Hill
and suggests that the mineralized zone discovered at Suwar Hill is at least
800 metres long. However infill drilling (5 holes) is necessary to confirm
continuity of the mineralization between Suwar Hill and drill hole Y005-6. The
UTEM anomaly extends a further 450 metres north of Y005-6 and 4 additional
core holes are planned to test for mineralization within this northerly
extension. At the time of writing, a second core hole Y005-7 has been
collared.
Gossans (rock formed from the weathering of metallic sulfide minerals)
outcrop intermittently along the entire length of the UTEM anomaly. Fourteen
samples from four sites along this zone have been analyzed and contain similar
amounts of nickel and copper to gossans found over the previously reported
nickel-copper deposit at Suwar Hill, in which massive sulfide intersections
contained typical grades of 1.2% to 1.5% nickel. It is inferred therefore that
the gossan samples along the UTEM anomaly reflect nickel-mineralized sulfides.
It is expected that this first phase of drilling at Suwar will be
completed within the next month. Disseminated and massive sulfide sections
discovered will be air freighted to Canada where the sections will be analyzed
for nickel, copper, cobalt and platinum group elements. Where potentially
commercial metal grades are discovered, infill drilling will be carried out to
delineate the resource and broadly determine the potential tons and grade.
Mapping is in progress along the projection of the UTEM anomaly between
Suwar Hill and Nashir village, 1.6 kilometres to the south-southwest, where
significant nickel and copper disseminated and massive sulfide mineralization
was drill intersected. Any gossans discovered within this 1.6 km long zone
will be tested by core drilling. Three core holes will also be drilled on
Suwar Hill to test for Jinchuan style nickel - copper mineralization.
