RE: Envirospeculator.
RE: Envirospeculator.Rio,
Science is a debate, it attempts to acheive a consensus, a model can make predictions that can be tested. There are many climate models in exisinence, they are computer programs that take in data and are used to model past climate (to determine their accuracy) and predict future. There is much research done to test both the assumptions in the models and the predictions. They often find flaws, the models are continueally refined.
The models contain information gleaned from 1000s of papers and are tested against real world historical data to validate them. They are far from perfect, but they continue to get more accurate. As the paper form the whitehouse said in January, if you dont put man made co2 production into the models, you don´t get existing global warming out.
30 years ago global warming wason the fringes. 30 years and a lot of research later vast majority (common figure quoted is 98%) agree that both global warming is a fact and it is man made.´The debate has now moved on to what impact, how big, is it anything to worry about and if so, how much needs to be done.
If you think there is proof that this degree of consesus is faulty, gives us links to the papers mentioned in your post and we can read the data and analysis for ourselves.
