Okay Rio, read you summary. Don't dispute ncrease in solar radiation at ground level, it was detailed in a BBC documnetary on 'global cooling' a few months back. What is complete nonsense is the concluson of the author of your article that this prooves global warming is caused by more sun rather than more CO2 and Methane. Here is why; 1) Solar Data is for 20 years. It corresponds to period where clean air acts in US and europe have reduced particulae emmissions. Airborne particulates reflect sun back to space (global cooling). All they have done is measure the effect of policies to reduce this particulate emmissions. 2) Planet broke out of normal cycles and has abnormally high (and rising) CO2 and methane levels for 5000+ years. Temperatures were falling much more slowly as a result as we headed into next ice age, almost flat. CO2 levels have began rising much more quickly in last 100+ years, accellerating. It is now close to 400ppm, way above the maximum 250ppm seen in the 400,000 year ice cores studied. Did you actually bother to read the article in Scientific American? Is your author going to claim that air has been getting cleaner for 5000+ years, doubt it. What is clear is that human activity has a significant effect on climate. The research you quote demonstrates this, the summary article that atempts to use the data to prove the opposite is trying to prove a theory by coincidence. He doesn't even question why sunlight absorbstion is increasing at ground level, maybe he thinks someone turned the brightness up. Go read the 2 atricles in scientific ameerica Rio, then show me something that contradicts the data in both.
