RE: Is this a Tekus board or a Union BoardRed....I don't agree with the TWU's wrong number campaign, I did not agree when they ran those silly Anti-Telus commercials. TWU has followed the rules of the game so far, obeying all the labour laws, which cannot be said for the company. But I do support the TWU in its efforts to get a revised agreement.
There is a time and place for everything. Trashing both the TWU and TELUS for what they are doing or not doing, really has no place on this board. Does anyone honestly think they can convert someone to their way of thinking? Not likely, most have strong opinions, and that is a good thing. Opinions though, are just that, and quite often have are far detached from reality. For example, the question has been to have the TWU employees "vote" of Telus offer. Why bother with that, why not just let TELUS inform the union there is am impasse, declare the existing agreement null and void, and use the PACCAR rules to impose the "Final Offer". So, I do hope the same folks who are demanding a vote...also email urging Telus to apply the PACCAR rules.
Like a lot of folks, I have some telus shares, and am always wondering, should I buy more, sell, transfer some to RRSP etc. I read this board for investment opinions, but I must admit sometimes it takes a lot of filtering to get them. And I probably have fallen into the trap of responding quickly without thought to articles which basically get my goat.
Asking and sometimes demanding that the employees vote of the 'Telus Final offer ver 1.2 makes no more sense than asking all shareholders to vote on the TWU counterproposals. That is not how it is done. We are still waiting for the CIRB decisions to help guide the future steps of both the company and the union.
Personally, I want binding arbritration...I see it as the only viable solution.
