RE: Negotiation is the keyThe TWU has been ready and willing to bargain based on changes to that existing collective and have had their proposals ready for years.
Trypod, I just can't understand how you can make the above statement when you consider that the TWU proposals which were tabled last week showed clearly the exact opposite!
And even though you are convinced that the TWU have had their proposals ready for years, then why did it take them over two months to give a response to Telus?
If you go online and check out the complete TWU proposal and keep your eyes open for the BOLD print which indicates ALL of the proposed changes to the existing BCTEL contact, then you should readily see that the TWU in fact DID NOT make any significant changes or concessions in the three major areas of concern for Telus; and those are contracting out, work scheduling committees, and mandatory overtime.
So once I again, I repeat, the TWU have clearly demonstrated last week when they had the opportunity to move this labour impasse forward, that they in fact are not seriously bargaining yet. Rather they are continuing with their posturing and delays hoping to have arbirtration granted.
