thousand shares, you borrow the 1000/shares from a broker, he puts
these shares up for sale and you buy them back at a lower price
(hopefully). This puts what's known as short selling pressure on a stock... hope that's right...

No reason for him to put the shares up for sale. In fact, you've borrowed them from the broker, so he needs to hold onto them, lest you want to buy them back from him in the future.
