RE: For TWU MembersCan you say CMS shops.... now if TELUS cant get out of the business of making widgets (really, TELUS still makes steel washers, clamps, metal spacers, racking, catwalk, thru bolts etc) like when they shut down the facility on 10th ave in Burnaby, they are hand cuffed (and trust me they tried). They sold the facility and told the TWU that they wanted to get out of the business of custom carpentry, stock ironwork parts and sign making etc... TWU/COTC... no way... and forced TELUS to open a new shop, set up punch presses and paint booths just to keep 1/2 dozen twu buggy whip makers.... There are hundreds (not thousands) of jobs that are simply done better/more efficiently elsewhere and the TWU wont budge (the CMS shops thing is rediculous, just like coin counting, mail sorting, forms production, janitorial services etc....)... And TELUS has tried for years to get out of these businesses with very very little success...
Someone please tell me why its the TWU's place in life to make sure TELUS stays in the janitorial business....
