Australia uranium market booming

Australia uranium market booming Australia uranium market booming By Jon Nones 07 Sep 2005 at 08:29 AM Australia's uranium export earnings grew a massive 30% over the past financial year, fuelling calls for an expansion in uranium mining. The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE) reported the value of uranium exports increased from $364 million to $475 million in 2004-05. In tonnage terms, exports of uranium oxide in 2003-04 were 9,099 tonnes. By the last financial year they had reached 11,249 tonnes. The world spot price for uranium oxide in 2003-04 averaged $14.90 a pound. In 2004-05 it had reached $22.20. Hmm, it might be time to lift the ban in Western Australia.
