Profits up 25% in third quarter

Plum Creek Timber Co. on Monday said profit rose 25 percent in the third quarter on stronger sales, despite a decline in volume. Net income jumped to $96 million, or 52 cents per share, from $77 million, or $42 cents per share, a year ago.
