RE: Re frac job Jobart
RE: Re frac job JobartThx for the suggestion Cohoe, but after 32 years in the patch I prefer to rely on my experience.
Acidizing is where they pump acid under pressure into the formation to clean it. Acid will follow the path of least resistance which will work well in a formation that has good porosity and high permeability.
Fracturing is where they pump acid and a blocking material, such as balls, into the formation under pressure. The blocking material will close off the paths of least resistance, forcing the acid to open new paths to increase porosity and permeability allowing for increased production rates.
Acidizing will, in almost every case, be the method of choice, mainly due to cost as fracturing a well can be prohibitively expensive and also because of the risk involved in 'FRAC' jobs.
