I hear ya!  Most of those high falutin' US political families probably made their fortunes with investments in alcohol, right from the prohibition days and Joe Kennedy bootlegger.  There certainly seems to be protectionist measures underlying the snail's pace movement to legalize a far safer vice.  A good portion of alcohol producers are seeing the future for what it is and joining the greenrush or at least looking into it.  Constellation really committed to the fact that they recognize cannabinoids infused into beverages is going to be a huge disruptor despite the agravatingly slow moves towards it from the lawmakers perspective.  Can you imagine if THC had the same level playing field as Big Alcohol.  The jury has been out for centuries and the verdict is that Big Alcohol has caused a lot of wealth, destruction of health and been a huge drain on society and the health system.  I suspect that the wealth generated has been a polarizing event in favour of alcohol.  Then along came the breaking bad crowd who liked the high with no hangover, who are now consuming marijuana and hemp for aches and pains.

The orange guy in the Whitehouse who I affectionately call the "orangutan" has his own agenda and pot legalization is low on his to do list.  He was the voice of change and that got him to the presidency.  Honestly, he has some serious problems to deal with from this pandemic.  If the economy feels enough pain we could get total pot legalization at the Federal level by default, because government is going to need job creation and tax revenue and it is the right thing to do, plus it might help eliminate some of the illegal drug trade.

As far as Sleepy Joe, I can't believe that the US voters are even considering him because of his age and health, although he is a well recognized political figure and I guess there will be a  Cheney behind the scenes running things when he can't step up.  Bernie will get a spot of influence on the democratic team and might be able to bring some of his commonsense to the democrat circus, I mean caucus.  Bernie seems to still be mentally intact and the democrats shouldn't have shunned him imho.  Bernie recognized fair play and the potential of hemp and marijuana and that won't change.

If Trump doesn't get re-elected, I don't expect much from the democrats although I think they will deal with the Federal issues on marijuana and deschedule it, enable banking and brokering and launch the biggest greenrush the world will see.  Who will be the VP if Biden croaks or loses capability and what happens if this happens before the election.  Does Bernie get another shot?

Time will tell, and maybe Acreage will get the respect that it deserves from investors who seem to have forgotten or don't know that they have a potentially sweet deal written up with Canopy Growth, leader of the pack!  glta and dyodd
