HUGE BOOST FOR MINING IN NUNAVUT

This news is fantastic today. For those doubting that mining cannot take place in the far north, well the Baffinland iron ore project is moving in the right direction. Here is a quick little paragraph from the article.

Baffinland Iron Mine Corp.‘s huge iron mine project on Nunavut’s northern Baffin Island took an important step forward Feb. 29, when the Nunavut Impact Review Board ruled the company’s final Environmental Impact Statement “positively complies” with guidelines and the preliminary hearings’ decisions issued for the project.

Baffinland's been going through the environmental process with the Nunavut Impact Reveiw Board since March 2008. Four years later and there's a little light at the end of the tunnel. There are final hearings in July, and a decision probably won't be entered until Q1 2013. So the whole permitting process will take 5 years if everything breaks right. * AXI hasn't registered any of ...more

Well believe it or not, Gago was correct in his statement.  Not the entire statement of course as he tries to mislead as he always does. The permiting process is very long.  AXI has been going through the "environmental process since 2007/08.  They have actually completed 6 years of baseline environmental studies on RB.  As well, various aspects of the permitting process ...more

I wanted to build upon my last e-mail since I did not have all the facts and misleading potential investors and existing is not a nice thing to do. I knew that Gago's statements were inaccurate but before I called it out I wanted to have the facts before me.Baffinland's been going through the environmental process with the Nunavut Impact Reveiw Board since March 2008Four years later and ...more

"AXI has been going through the "environmental process since 2007/08.  They have actually completed 6 years of baseline environmental studies on RB.  As well, various aspects of the permitting process commenced back in late 2010 and work on their EIS is underway." * www.nirb.ca  This is the website for the Nunavut Impact Review Board. Hey guys:   Look he's changed his name again...now he's GreenandGrizzly...your actions speak volume...you are truly pathetic...take the 10k and get some help.  You know exactly what you are up to so don't try and BS your way out of your lies.  What a waste

".take the 10k and get some help." This statement means = I have absolutely no evidence that AXI has begun the environmental permitting process for a mine at Roche Bay with the Nunavut Impact Review Board.

"AXI has been going through the "environmental process since 2007/08."  For those of you who read my post, I don't want you to mis-read what I'm stating.  The word process might have thrown people off so I apologize (not to Greenandgold or Greenandgrizly or whatever his name is) AXI has been conducting environmental "studies" since 2007 [on site].  ...more

No one cares how many years AXI's been taking water samples at Roche Bay.  Baffinland probably took baseline samples for 10 years before beginning the formal environmental permitting process with a project registration with the NIRB in March 2008. They are still trudging along. If they get the project cleared in 5 years, it will be a victory. Nunavut's a terrible place to try to ...more

Funny how you don't even have the decency to admit when you've made an error.  You continue to link the little small trucking project that Baffinland (pre-AMittel) registered with the most recent submission of the BIG project  (Mary River 20 million/tonne) in January 2011.  You equate the former as part of your timeline.  You actually think that we are all idiots on ...more

But why did Baffinland/Arcelor edit their project submission? At least partly in response to the community commentary (complaints about port plans etc.) and the various guidelines issued by the NIRB. Once AXI formally begins the permitting process, they may be forced to revise their project plans and EIS also. That's why process takes so long, and that's why it takes so long to permit a ...more

I've got to tell you all, that even though I'm the live and let live type of person, G&G is starting to get to me. He may be playing the Devil's advocate, and does bring up some pertinant points at times, his negativitiy, however, is starting to get to me. As my dear departed Mother was wont to say"if you don't have anything good to say, keep your mouth shut" ...more
