Tesla's Plans to Mine Lithium and Build a Cathode Plant

Tesla hosted its annual shareholder meeting and “Battery Day” on September 22. The company announced plans to build its own cathode plant in North America and announced rights to a 10,000+ acre lithium clay deposit in Nevada from which it could source lithium using a proprietary extraction and processing technology that could result in a 33% reduction in lithium cost.
