I listened to this while trading today. My conclusion is nothing will get fixed and the problem will persist as the focus appears to be more on reddit retail crowd and robinhood settlement of trades and things that really don't matter. Things that aren't the problem. Not much focus on why or how a stock gets 140% short sold. Shouldn't THAT be the priority? I mean laws were broken ...more

I believe short selling is allowed in Europe although much more controlled? see link below I once read that several studies have shown short selling does not stop a stock value rise over time(however they didn't mention the retailer casualities in the process) https://ec.europa.eu/info/business-economy-euro/banking-and-finance/financial-markets/securities-markets/short-selling_en

I listened for a few hours and then had about my fill. One can only hope that future hearings will bring forth some change in short selling practise's. There needs to be limitations on how much of a float can be borrowed towards short sells.  Different countries have different rules. China went from no short selling to having a limited list of "eligible companies" to banning it ...more

True, nothing will be fixed.. just fool us all for sometime... then again these big guys will short more than 100% of the float, SEC and congressmen will just watch and later tell they never knew!
