INFLATION

Yo whats everyone DZ and TJ talking about inflation  and all  roads lead to inflation and inflationwill  never go away.   What was with 2010-2020? where was the inflation?  why were rates like 2%

The market is a discounting mechanism. It prices and discounts in advance. If inflation is /was coming in and rates are/were getting cut it gets priced. If that environment/ narrative changes (for whatever reason) things begin to revert or reprice, ongoing. The market is anticipating the chance of inflationary pressures coming out of Trump administration which will put the Fed in a tougher ...more

Don't forget that when J Powell lowers Fed funds there is also a risk of inducing inflation if they're no longer in restrictive territory. I've talked often in the past about r- star and the neutral rate of interest which is a theoretical level of interest rate that is neither stimulative or accommodative. What is r- star today? ............ummmmmm, that was the jist of the post from the nice little French bakery two posts ago.........." Fed hands are tied between nuetral and current/ upcoming inflationary pressures".
