You sure know how to pile it on Glimpseyboy. Just look at the SP performance over the past quarter.  With an 80% decline from its highs for the year, I concur with PI Financial's assessment that Arcan is arguably the worst performer in the Canadian junior oil & gas space so far in 2012. So if the quality of their Swan Hills asset hasn't changed, then its the people behind the ...more

Hardeehar said, Then what really lost investor confidence was Ian Fisher's embezzlement of $4.5 million from the company.  They have only themselves to blame for being in the doghouse! Be very cautious of the words and accusations made on this forum - especially when they're unsubstantiated and especially if you dont know ALL the players involved personally. A comment on this the so called misappropriated funds were used from what insider knowledge I have  to pay off 4 First Nations chiefs to avoid them blocking development in the Swanhills area over the past few years....common practice with most companies out there just no one talks about it not sure why Arcan turned it into a public issue....there is bad blood between former and ...more

Even though Eric Nuttal says to stay away because of debt it might be a good thing as Eric is always wrong so please Eric never come near this stock. Good bounce on Friday as something is brewing finally.

Eric Nuttall had ARN as buy on March 19th/12(4 Months ago)......when it was trading at 5.53...he must have owned it then ..and was trying to pump it higher...LOLSee link>>> https://www.stockchase.com/Expert-sl--slq-ID-slv-Eric--Nuttall.php
Comment by teevee on Jul 22, 2012 1:55pm
On his last BNN appearance, Nuttall stated he wouldn't touch ARN now, didn't own it and sold it all, due to high debt levels. He must have been pumping it to get off his position.
Comment by bonjovi501 on Jul 23, 2012 11:06pm
It should be a law when a fund manager pumps a stock and then sells it after he appears on BNN they must tell the people that they have sold. It is not fair to the small guy trying to get a head to be duked by these fund managers. Someone should be held responsible.  Also if the CEO comes on and pumps a stock knowing that the targets are not reachable they should have to come on and retract ...more

I agree with what your saying! Things dont add up. Arcan went through some really slow times when this alledged embezzelment went on. You would think a good controller and CFO would have caught this and made a stand along time ago! Kind of Reminds of the story( McBeth) . When the wifes got more teststerone then the man and pressures her hubby into being king no? Look what happened to Mcbeth

oilcreep.............do you have good inside knowledge or are you speculating?? One thing is for sure is ARN is not returning my emails as I want to buy more shares but until I hear something my money is not being spent.
Comment by mathwhiz on Aug 07, 2012 12:25pm
@ bonjovi501: I have found that when the answers are less than favorable, management at Arcan has a tendency to ignore the questions. There definitely are rumors out there that the production will be under the 5000 BOE mark and certainly not close to the 6000 we were guaranteed. Given the significant decline on the HZ wells, it will be impossible to maintain prod levels if no new ...more

From June 7th:  Arcan remains on track to meet its operational objectives for 2012. The Corporation expects second quarter production to be approximately 5,600 barrels of oil equivalent per day and third and fourth quarter production to average over 6,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Arcan has recently finished drilling the last well on a four-well pad in the northwest portion of its ...more

Arcan plans to target higher impact wells using a single drilling rig for the remainder of the year, which is consistent with its strategic direction of bringing capital spending into better balance with cash flow for the second half of 2012. 911... Even harder to drill the spectactular 'high impact wells' when I hear that they 'released' their Drilling Manger back at the end of June and don't actually have the single drilling rig going that they claim in the press release? I can't confirm that though, management is hiding and won't return emails requesting confirmation on those two points.
Comment by Pindundrjeep911 on Aug 07, 2012 10:31pm
mathwhiz, I can confirm the firing - more of a screw-over - of the drilling manager a few months ago. I cannot confirm if the company is actually drilling as I just dont know. And for the others on this board that keep giving any negative comments a ratng of "1"...that is childish! If you dont believe, or just dont WANT to believe what is said pick up the phone and call the company ...more

Sorry all...I should retract that the drilling manager was "fired"...all I know is he is no longer there (either quit or let go) and the reason I heard was the company had screwed him over on paying his day rate contract. A lot of people that I work with have worked with him before and they all say he is an awesome guy and knows his stuff...starting to think he left for greener pasturs ...more

A ridiculous statement is saying that with the current program they wont maintain production or offsett decline when in your following post you clarify that you have no idea if they are drilling?  Dont post rumours because you lost money on the stock or got fired lol.  Post facts or wait for the Q2 results.....downside is limited at these levels with the entire oil market rallying.   ...more

A ridiculous statement is saying that with the current program they wont maintain production or offsett decline when in your following post you clarify that you have no idea if they are drilling?   What??? I truly believe if they are only using one rig to drill - as seen in one of your last posts - that if the wells are status quo, ARN will not meet their self-imposed targets. They had ...more

You are literally calling the company and asking them to disclose material non-public information to you?  And you think it is a bad thing that they won't reply? If you contact a company and ask for information, they better either keep quiet or rehash what they have already made public.  If they are not being aboveboard with their disclosures, I want no part of the company as an ...more

The drilling manager in the field? He probably hasn't been working much lately since according to the ERCB Arcan hasn't spud a well since June 7th. Unless I missed a day or something. Best Clown voice? Is that the one that Doug Penner dictates his news releases in? Good, easy way to save money is to fire everyone and do nothing right? Also isn't 120 days the normal time to pay services? Its the legal max so why not make them sweat always lots of people willing to do the work. They might as well fire management and put an ad on Kijiji to sell the company. I've been ...more

nlr2. Glad you have a sense of humour. With Arcan you need that. Yes, that would be the same clown voice Penner uses for the most part. Realize Arcan was paying at zero days earlier this year, all vendors... 60-90 days is actually industry average from my experience, pushing vendors to 120 makes them very cranky.   Here's where I get proven wrong.
