The way I see it, there are three possibilities: (i)  CRA is taking a long time to assess the tax return for tax clearance certificates, based on the multinational nature of the corporate liquidation, or simply the fact that government agencies are seldom in a hurry, especially when the process ends with a disbursement; or, (ii)  CRA has taken issue with the financial statements of the ...more

Have you been involved in such a liquidation before, requiring tax clearance certificates, or a similar situation, and what was the result in those situations?  Or do you mean their overall pace of business?  I underestimated the time, and will not do this again, unless the price is much more attractive.  Even if you bought at the lows, this is already a terrible investment.

yes. eventually get paid but, Revenue Canada takes a mind boggling amount of time

Out of curiosity, what was the situation?  How was it similar or different?  And how long did it ultimately take?  Any insights would be welcome on this board I am sure, to all of us holding our breath.

I was not familiar with the Cinar case.  I see that there was a big scandal over it.  Funds were allegedly misappropriated in or before 2000, and it was claimed that 40 million was invested in GlobeX funds in the Bahamas without board authorisation.  Then there was extensive litigation, lasting until 2005?  Lots of procedural and tangential deliberations.  I also found a ...more

I was referring to the time to get funds For the stub. the fraud stuff had already been settled.

Can you recall the specific time frame?  From when the company was dissolved and all legal matter settled, to the time of TCCs and payment?  Perhaps a time line of events?  Not all these details are in the public domain.  Thanks.
