How To Calculate The PPS Value.

Addressing the value of SPYGLASS stock based on the dividend it pays I am thinking is the way to go. Lets compare it to other Canadian companies in the same industry that pay dividends.

Lets try it with Whitecap Resources. $9.00 PPS paying .05 cent a month. That figures out at $1.80 per penny per month.

So for SPYGLASS you would get $1.80 x 2.25 cents = $4.05

Lets try it with Enerplus Corporation. $14.00 PPS paying .09 cent per month. That figures out at $1.56 per penny.

So for SPYGLASS you would get $1.56 x 2.25 cents = $3.51

Tris, in this case I believe it to be very unwise to estimate SGL share price using any relation to its dividend. They have already reduced it before the company has even been formed, and they said they would only guarantee it for six months, which, if I'm not mistaken have removed from the proposal as well. Kingcourt, Don't underestimate the power of Hype and the ensuing pops to PPS it can cause. Even if it only lasts for a day if your "Jhonny on the Spot" you can rake in a windfall.

On top of that, I think SGL's PPS will be impacted by the moral and ethical issues that surround this new entity___ Read that as many investors now know that the management team will never hesitate for one second to gut their share holders if they can profit at their expense...

eusdond, you would be very hard pressed to find a corporation that is not like that. Even Blue Chip BOD's are into that game. Yet the market goes on.

Tris, Unfortunately your statement is true___ That's why my big money investments are in MLPs, REITs, Utilities and Royalty trusts...  At least they are somewhat restricted in their ability to cheat...  That's not to say that all are bulletproof from an investors stand point___ Atlantic power being a case in point _ Their CEO made public statements as to the safety of the ...more
