Ex-date?

What will be the ex-date for this merger?  We'll need to watch?

you think they will give an april dividend ?
Comment by jacek99 on Mar 27, 2013 3:03pm
I'm not an expert, however, I believe since they announced it, they are obliged to pay it.  We will get our last dividend from AVF @ a rate of $0.035/share before the new one kicks in.

You all misunderstood the QUESTION.  I asked: "What will be the ex-date for this merger?  We'll need to watch?"   The NR stated: "It is anticipated that Spyglass shares will commence trading on the TSX under the new symbol "SGL" on or about April 4, 2013."   Therefore does this mean that the 4th will be the date of record?  Will ...more

The Ex Date for the new shares will likely not be announced until after the 4th. Maybe a week after once things start to get settled in.  Give em some time man. I have made my intentions to sell at a profit known, but I fully expect I may be holding for months. Possibly until the release of their first quarterly report which I expect to be steller and that very well could be when this ...more

I'm a big fan of your posts so far Tris, I can tell your very well educated and have done your DD on this arrangement. That being said, this puppy is not going to "pop" to $5 anytime soon. You might get a lift if they raise the dividedend and commodity prices further improve, but this puppy is gonna ride at 12% yield (like so many other JR div paying corps) until they can prove their ...more

I can appreciate your desire for a quick swing trade profit. I do it often enough myself. However in this particular case we have a dividend paying stock that is worth $3.50 to $4.00 per share minimum based on industry standard. I personally got in cheap enough that I sincerely feel that I will never see my position in the RED for at least a year. I can sleep at night holding this position. I ...more

1nv35r0r; A couple other things. I never said a $5 pop was going to happen next week. It could. It might be after the release of their first quarterly report if it shows what I anticipate it will. By that time plenty of analysts will have weighed in of course. You cite the only potential for a lift in PPS is a dividend raise. That will eventually happen unless we have been lied to which is a ...more

Fair enough,  I do not doubt you will make money off this stock by holding it long term, Buchanan and his crew have a history of growing companies and making investors a lot of money. I think they also have the lands to make it happen. I just think they are going to have to wait and prove their model like Whitecap did. I do however have to discount your comparison to Enerplus. In 2012 ...more

i agree with tris, the buyers held up nicely today. the sellers will be out of shares soon. replaced by long term investors. institutions will be more attracted to spl as its lower payout ratio right now 25%, big capx programs, more production to make great gains on hedges. yes we wont be big  like enerplus or crescent point but we will bring room for a lot more growth. and we have more ...more
