Canada to Announce Update - Prefers F35 Jets - $19 Billion

Contract for the 88 F35 jets woud be worth up to $19 billion.

"OTTAWA, March 28 (Reuters) - Canada will announce on Monday that Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N) is the preferred bidder to supply 88 new fighter jets, a clear sign the U.S. company is set to win the multibillion-dollar contract, said an industry source close to the file.

....

Defense sources had long predicted good news for Lockheed Martin, given Canada belongs to the consortium that developed the company's F-35 jet and the fact the plane is the military's first choice. Ottawa says the contract could be worth up to C$19 billion ($15.10 billion)."

But because he did not want to deal with the controversies around the F35 during election time, there was no announcement and the stock retreated. But it is nowhere near the 20 cents mark after this annoucement ...more

Fingers crossed. lets hope Lockeed Martin comes to the table and give the Canadian Goverment what it wants. We will still have to wait for a merger or acquisition because most of Avcorp shares are held by Panta, the executive team, friends and families. No one is selling and are probably waiting for that.

There is now a sense of urgency for Canada and other NATO countries to build up their defence capabilities to deal with the Ukraine situation and security concerns in Europe.    Canada and Germany have announced that they will be buying the F35.  Once the orders are firm and there are more details about the companies involved, there will be significantly more interest in Avcorp. ...more

and don't forget when we go back to pre-covid commercial flying, new planes will be needed to fill the demand since a lot of older planes were retired. There will be so much work coming from Boeing.  Boeing also needs to make up for the Bombardier fiasco and show that they  have learned their lesson and will play nice in the hope for future govt contracts.
