Where are the shares coming from?

1.5 million shares traded. Where are they all coming from? Are people trading on a nickel up price? I can not believe that there are many out there trading short this stock. This means that those that bought at 77 -81 or 2 are now selling at a profit. Good on them if so, hope they find the next winner for 5-10%. I am staying around for the next several months at least, the results will drive this much higher. Many large miners are looking for large deposits and this definitely could be a very large one.

There are some 200 million shares which once upon a time were purchased below 30 cents.  A lot of people are taking profits.  Who are they?  Everyone who supported Hercules Silver in the past for pennies.

They could have sold at 1.50 several months ago. So question still is, why now? Everything looking good for copper and drilling will or has started, Does not make sense to me.

After looking at the buy/sell data for almost the lifetime of this stock (approx 3 years), never has Anon's sell as a % of total daily volume exceeded 50% so consistently for days, until March 20, 2024 came around.  Exactly on that day, 8.6 million former Insiders escrow shares were unlocked and allowed to trade.   These former insiders are sitting on 8 x returns, and the ...more

Anon is short for anonymous.  "Anonymous" is any investor/brokerage who wants to remain anonymous.  Maybe these are escrow shares, maybe they are warrants, maybe they are something else.  We don't know and we never will. Why now?  It is quite possible that these people were hoping, as I was, that the follow up holes would be better than 23-05.  Back then no ...more

Correct, we will never know who anon is and wether it is related to escrow or not.  But, please note that since the stock began trading (3 years ago), never has there been back-to-back/consistent multiple days of Anon selling volume greater than 50% of daily volume until exactly on the day the escrow shares became free trading.  Correlation is not causation, but given the large number, 8 ...more

In my opinion you are overanalyzing.  Invest in the long term and forget about the short term fluctuations (there are lots of day traders on CEO).  I am predicting that the Bornite blanket will cover many square kilometers and will contain billions and billions of dollars of easily exploitable copper.  In the meantime I watch the share price but I don't do anything about it ...more

$10 / $30 in CAD or USD?
Comment by Retiredgeo on Apr 28, 2024 7:13pm
I'm thinking CAD but I will gladly accept USD.  The margin of error swamps any currency difference.
Comment by NaturalCurrency on Apr 29, 2024 2:31pm
Thanks. Do you think Barrick will sit around letting it go to $30 (CAD/USD). If the initial results are good, they will not wait around for BIG to drill it like swisscheese and keep moving the SP up, but would want to make a move and take out the company sooner. They might have to pay a hefty premium though - so at $7/$10 they pay 100% premium for $15/$20 buyout (illustrative)

This scenario could arise if all three statements are true: 1- The drilling is proving their hypothesis, 2- The grades are good and/or promising, and 3- Another Mining major forces their hand. Otherwise letting the drilling carry-on is wise for Barrick.

All of the big companies are risk adverse these days.  They would rather pay more latter for a sure thing than take a risk now.  I suspect that the big boys will let the 2024 drill programme play out without comment.  I'm hoping for a bidding war between Barrick and Rio Tinto in 2025.   Maybe I'm wrong.  We shall see.
Comment by NaturalCurrency on May 01, 2024 12:46am
Fair enough. But of you look at the speed at which Barrick took a stake in the company, that was sort of unprecedented. Of course that is just a few 10s of million $$ vs. a few Billion $$ of buyout, but an indication nonetheless. Add to the mix looking copper deficit, lack of new discoveries, many mining majors watching it like a hawk... I suspect if the early drill results are good, Barrick ...more

If Copper fertility is proved there will be more than one interested party.  The longer this drags out the higher the buyout price.  Don't wish for $3 when you can get $30.  As a shareholder I would reject Barrick's low ball offer.
