Why are there holes 9A and 9B?
If a hole has to be abandoned for reasons other than excessive water flow the drill is moved a little bit and another hole is collared close to the first one. The first attempt became 9A. The second attempt became 9B. A third attempt will probably be 9C.
I'm guessing the fault gouge proved impenetrable to the diamond drill. The RC drill will be needed to grind a hole through it. Further details pending ...

They definitely couldn't get past the fault. The real story is why they sank a second hole at this location. They lost quite a few holes to faulting yet this was the only one they felt the need to redrill? What did they hit in 9a that made them risk a second hole?
