This past fall I purchased a Google 7 phone, I beleive on the last day of the past labour day sale from a large famous name office supplier, with a Virgin Plan.
I loved the plan ... It was $40/month of 5G and 60 GB of data, upscaled from the usual $35/mo for 4G, THIS WAS THE ABSOLUTELY BEST DEAL ON THE BLOCK ..., there was a bit of a glitch with the transaction and I would have to pay $45/mo and the office sales person called in, or whatever and they bumped up the data to 75 GB at 5G. The deal just got better...
Sweet,very sweet.
But I have little use for the additional data but the 5G future proofs my phone plan ... The telecoms had spent so much money on 5G and now they were giving away their data. Thank you, Lord.
I would think that they have learned a lesson and when it comes to 6G, yup, their is likely zilch giveaways.
The giving just keeps on getting better.
If I took the Google 7 with 128 gb of memory, then each phone would receive a $250 gift certificates (but there was a limited number of phones, I AM THINKING BLOW OUT!). Well, the cost of the Google phone in our plan, was $1/month for 2 years. How can anyone in the world resist. My spouse took the phone and we each have $250 gifts, total $500, and paid through the 2 plans $24. I informed my spouse that this would mostly pay the cost of our new Cell phones after 2 years.Thank you, Lord again for these small blessings.
Fast forward, and my phone is fully loaded and Google wont let me send me emails from the gmail account on the Cell unless I buy additional data. I have to return to the office supply store for assistance, and yes, I will buy my next phone from them and great after market service. I will place the photos on an external hard drive and I will be good to go. Google only permits 15 gb of free storage and I suspect if you dont purchase additional storage, then no emails. I say NO for AI ..., thank you very much.
Fast forward again, now to August 2024 and the gift is still giving..., we are planning a 2025 vacation to Japan for a somewhat lengthy period since my spouse has family in Japan, and I immediately checked out the free call countries that I can call and of course, now but not previously, Japan is on the list and up to 1,000 minutes per month (of course, I will never use) and we have been talking to relatives in 3 cities in Japan and also talking to accommodation providers and finding the best transport between cities that are all over the map ... ALL FREE. Thank you again.
I just checked our plans and what are the countries where you have free calling to the country (NOT THE REVERSE UNFORTUNATELY ...) for our Virgin plan.
1000 International LD minutes to India, Germany, China, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Italy, Mexico, Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore
Additional LD minutes to are 10¢/min. Valid only when calls are made from Canada.
All telecoms have free long distance to specified countries with their plans but the countries vary and they change, depending on the target markets. OK, MAYBE ONLY A LIMITED TIME TARGETED SPECIAL. What a great marketing approach ... !! Thank you a again, the present that keeps on giving.
I just had a thought and BCE earnings were just great when you factor in the above discounting. I dont know who paid for our family $250 gift certificates, but thank you very much.
Yep, the immigrant market is more important than what one thinks since Canada is the land of immigrants.
