Europe Set ... The rest of the World up for grabs

It appears as though Europe will be the real springboard for Canola (Rapeseed) Protein.  Saskatoon was a necessary, but pricey, pilot plant.

The rest of the world will still be available to BioExx to license or develop themselves.  The European plant will give them the experience to leverage the other markets.

You are onto something there Seldom....here is my synopsis  I listened to the conference call that BXI held yesterday regarding their JV partnership. Although it is not a done deal, it looks to me promising. Firstly there is no more capital required of them to put a new 75,000 ton plant into Europe. There would be three partners, BXI, a strategic financial partner (maybe private money), and a ...more

My main point is this is just Europe.  Once proven (never a sure thing), there are still massive markets in Asia and the US.  I doubt very much that BXI is giving these markets away in the JV they are negociating now.  These markets will remain theirs to develop for themselves, license or through other JVs.  The first plant is still critical, and I understand why there will be ...more

That's a great question.  He said it would be a minority stake so we know they are getting less than 33% of this JV but i'm also very curious as to how much of a hit CS had to take to get to get this far. To address another comment CS also mentioned when it was down to two parties that one would be in the initial deal with the second potentially coming on board as a result of the ...more

Why cant they just sell off Minton to free up some short term cash flow?

I find it hard to believe they will get over 10% for just tech and no capital especially if the deal doesn't have exclusivity for the rest of the world. It isn't signed and he didn't mention any terms, so that doesn't mean your assumptions of BXI driving a hard bargain are correct. Out of money doesn't help negotiating. Canaccord's Elford had a previous estimate of the non ...more

Yes, a possible scenario - as possible as this scenario: - BXI stake will be half of what you have assumed, let's say: 15-20 % of the JV > halfen your scenario and sp. - The 75,000 ton plant will not produce (because of lack of demand) at full capacity, but only at half of its capacity for the first years (market penetration takes time) > halfen your scenario and sp again. - the profit ...more

correction: >> this would mean that profit and SP may be only 1/8 of what you have assumed. Not 80 cents but 10 cents

Foodhawk - I am assuming you are European ...in doing so, a question: Does it make a difference if 'products' advertize a 'protein' as a 'rapeseed protein' or a 'canola protein' in Europe? I think I read somewhere that there is a certain negative, traditional perception regarding 'rapeseed' as a safe food source... I could be right off ...more
