You might be quite right in your advice not to trust IR personnel on technical matters.  It might even be true that you should never trust anything they say.  After all they are paid to put a favourable spin on events and marketing is often just BS in disguise.

It would be easy enough for me to blow off your comments with rationalizations such as, "operational difficulties happen all the time" or "120 feet of raise is only 10 days of work, so who cares."  However, it seems that something more profound is causing your distaste for this project and I would like to know what that might be.

Do you consider this project to be doomed from the start?  If so, please say why.
