Please help me understand the Dutch Auction.

If I may clarify and ask a few questions re the “Modified Dutch Auction” on BPY.UN?

My assumptions are as follows:

We can call our brokerage account (td direct investing) and state that we wish to sell “X” amount of shares at “S00.00”

Maximum of $405.000.000 will be purchased.

The price has to be between $19.00 and $21.00 US per share.

Share price being the lowest will be purchased first up to a volume of $405.

Present share price is $26.59 Cad, which is approximately $19.92 US.

If we choose to hold, (not sell) the price remains what the present stock price is as of Monday.

If we hold, we do nothing, no calls to brokerage, no paperwork etc.

Auction ends Mar25. (Monday).

In conclusion, I believe I will hold as I have held this stock for a year and will hold long.

Thank you.

I would agree with all you have said...nicely laid out. If you do nothing, nothing changes for you and the stock continues to trade as per usual and the overhang from the dutch auction is gone.  I am with you and doing nothing, I am in for the long term so long as mgmt continues to keep an eye on us loyal unitholders.  Things like my post yesterday where the CEO made a decision to take ...more

Vette08; Thanks for both replies, since my assumptions were correct, I’m going to hold. In reference to “I would never own a company that has the word Dream in it anyway”, if you’re referring to my forum name, it’s more of “life is but a dream” and one of my first dream was to get a C3 (still have). On a different note, I didn't realize my intial post went through as I'm not going ...more

I was not referring to your forum name .....rather the DREAM Reit that the analyst was comparing to BPY in whatever post we were discussing.   I am not an expert on dutch auctions, I am just reading the same info you are and I have seen them before, so I know a little bit from experience. Good luck.
