SPLITS, SPLITS AND MORECSPLITS

Please note that if you are a holder of Brookfield Asset Management Inc. (“Brookfield”) (TSX: BAM.A) (NYSE: BAM) class A and class B common shares as of market close on Friday, June 25th, you will be entitled to receive one Brookfield Reinsurance share for every 145 Brookfield shares held.
 
The Brookfield Reinsurance shares that you are entitled to receive will be deposited into your account(s) by Wednesday, June 30th with a cash payment in lieu of any interest in fractional shares.

Hi Chungas, The Reinsurance transaction is a Special Dividend (ie NOT a split) and like TSU (Trisura) a few years ago, these types of transactions can affect intrinsic value of a company.  Btw, as I said in a much earlier post, I have been buying Boralex too. Vette

vette what are you doing with the BAMR shares.  I don't like keeping odd lots on the books but don't have enough info on this issue. Cheers Rad10

Hi Rad, I have not done anything yet with my BAMR shares as I have not had time to study it. When we all received Trisura a couple years back, I followed Partners Value Investments and since it was buying shares in the open market in the initial months I bought a position also and it has been like an 8 bagger....wish I had bought more.  It came out around $20 per share and now analysts have ...more

Thanks Vette i received the prospectus in the mail Friday (after already receiving a few shares!) it's heavy going. like you - I find aligning myself with Flatt - is usually lucrative. all the best and happy holidays!

A stock split is a corporate action in which a company divides its existing shares into multiple shares. Basically, companies choose to split their shares so they can lower the ...more
