The deal
is about intent, integrity and good faith. Acreage got bashed on the rocks from inattention and beat down badly. Revisiting the takeover deal didn't help Acreage shareprice and investors got fearful. Acreage or a deal like it is essential for Canopy to stay in the lead. They paid good dollars to Acreage for the deal and sweetened it up with another $30 million that went straight to shareholders on record. Canopy could have walked anytime but why would they. Big dollars have been paid and now it is just a matter of the US removing the liability which the electorate want and then those cheap (today's price) shares get converted to Canopy shares. If it all got triggered today there is a sweet premium in there for Acreage fixed shareholders. By my calculation it will only increase the sharefloat of Canopy by about 30 million shares and those shares will be very desirable for US investors, and in short supply and easily hit their old high values or higher. Then the floating shares will get interesting as Canopy has the option of a cash buyout at about double what they are worth right now or figuring out another shareswap to take control of the whole company. Either way, Acreage is destined to be Canopy USA and I can see it being 10 times what Canopy is currently. Canopy has already navigated that problem of the NYSE pulling their stock listing for touching the product by switching to the Nasdaq and if the TSE hasn't backed off on that they should or we could do the same thing with them in favour of the VSE or CSE. Those hardcore entrepreneurs in the STZ camp have a lot of clout and know-how and I am pretty sure that they are driving the bus. It is quite a trifecta or conglomerate or whatever you want to call it and they are making their own destiny and moving towards the future that they envision. Not everybody shares that vision, but I do. glta and dyodd
