Today, Abitibi Metals (AMQ.c AMQFF) provided an update on its phase 2 drill program at the B26 Polymetallic Deposit, announcing the extension of the western plunge in step-out drilling!
Currently underway, AMQ is progressing with its 16,500-metre phase 2 drill program which has identified a broad zone of mineralization from 1,206 to 1,344m in depth along the Western Plunge of the deposit.
Designed to test the extension of the high-grade lens identified in hole 1274-16-236 which intercepted 5.08% Cu Eq over 7.1 meters, the highlights of step-out drillhole 1274-24-338 are:
- Hole was extended from a planned depth of 1,250 to 1,422 meters based on positive visuals
- Copper-gold zone was hit at 1,206 meters and extended to 1,287 meters with continuous chalcopyrite mineralization.
- Intercepted the zone 35m west of 1274-16-236 and 90m deeper in vertical depth
Notably, this will be the deepest western extensional hole in the projects history if successful.
AMQ has commenced drilling a wedge off this pilot hole to intercept the targeted zone 50m to the west for further testing.
Highlighting the success of the initial hole, Jonathon Deluce, CEO of Abitibi Metals, commented:
“The first hole of Phase 2 has delivered exceptional observations of continuity of visual copper mineralization. This hole supports our expansion thesis of the western plunge and is the deepest intercept in the Project’s history. We are now planning on extending the zone with a wedge 50 metres from the first intersection. The LaRonde Mine (2P reserve of 2.9 Moz Au) located 62 kilometres west of Val-d'Or in Quebec extends beyond 4.0 km highlighting potential size of these deep seeded systems in the Abitibi.”
With $15.5m to complete the remaining 2024 work program and an additional 20,000m in 2025, AMQ is fully funded and will be incorporating these results into a Preliminary Economic Assessment to complete its B26 option.
