'Abitibi Metals Sets Course for Growth With New Drill Program'
Having initiated the second phase of drilling at its B26 copper and gold project, Abitibi Metals (AMQ.c AMQFF) is building upon the success of the first phase and is focused on extending known mineralization.
The company plans to drill 16,500 meters this year particularly focused on the Western Plunge Extension which shows potential for high-grade mineralization at depths exceeding 1,000 meters.
Notably, B26 holds an initial resource estimate of 11.4 million tons at nearly 3% copper equivalent, including 7.0 million tonnes indicated at 2.94% Cu Eq and 4.4 million tonnes inferred at 2.97% Cu Eq. Located near the historic Selbaie mine, a significant copper-lead producer, the project benefits from excellent infrastructure, including access to roads, power, and nearby mills.
A key hole currently being drilled is 1,250 meters long, testing a down-dip extension west of a historic high-grade intercept.
Near-surface exploration will also target large-tonnage deposits, while deeper drilling will explore expansion potential at vertical depths of 300 to 625 meters. Abitibi is incorporating data from the first phase into an updated resource model and using advanced drilling techniques to test central targets more efficiently.
