STAR Patent dead

I was contacted for another investment opprtunity which turned out to do data transmission in real time for heavy equipment, tracking , monitoring and data anaylisis. I queried their techno and the guys. They use public domain techniques and know how.
I asked one of my colleagues to check on STAR 'patent'. It comes to an end on July 2021, and STAR  patent fees have not been paid since 2019 in Canada and else.
Anyhow a quick key word search found tens of other patents in US, Canada and Europe on data transmission real time for aerospace applications from teh big avionics and aircraf manufacturers (Boeing, Airbus, PW, GE, Honeywell, Leonardo....)
