Takeover Offer

While it is fun to guess at what the value of CYD may be, it is delusional, IMO, to think that we shareholders somehow know better than management.
It is not the function of management to speculate on the future price of gold, which is unknown.
I am as greedy for profits as the rest of you, but will be satisfied with making 150% on my wager in less than a year.
This is not the only opportunity in the gold sector so it is time to move on and re-deploy cash to other emerging opportunities.
Good luck!

So you have already sold your position?
Comment by goldguy007 on Sep 11, 2014 12:31pm
Scott, No, I have not. I am waiting for the 3.79 price after it is a done deal. Will it be cash or will we receive AEM stock? I thought cash, but not clear to me. goldguy

what we get is stupidly based on a volume weighted average of the stock price and guess what? someone leaked the deal so AEM price went down. You will also get 1 penny Canadian for each share you own.... wooohooo for that kicker (sarcasm) GG may still make an offer but the clock is ticking.

Scott My reading of the PR (see below) is that the offer is based on the "volume weighted average of the stock price" for the 30 day period ending  9/05/14 and that gives the esimate of 3.79. During that timeframe AEM traded at significantly higher prices than now. Am I missing something? goldguy   (September 8, 2014) – Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (NYSE:AEM, TSX:AEM) (" ...more

yeah, but see where it says you will receive .09 of an AEM share (that means 9%) So if you own 1000 shares of Cayden you will receive 90 shares of AEM plus $10 cash. So the price of Cayden will trade in relation to AEM until the deal is done unless they have a cap on the price.

Whoopee!  $10!  A tenth of a tank of gas! This "deal" is beyond immoral and unethical.  It is criminal. Here's hoping the entire shareholder community of CYD has enough sense to vote a resounding and unanimous NO to this pickpocketing and throws the bums (board) including the heretofore apparently respectable Bebek out.  He has now shown his true colors.
Comment by SevenFigures on Sep 11, 2014 2:21pm
yes that was a goofy metric that they used, since AEM stock has dropped from the 40's into now the 30's in the past several weeks. the correct equation would be: 0.09 x T.AEM share price + $0.01
Comment by goldguy007 on Sep 11, 2014 2:57pm
I still don't get it. Isn't the offer based on historical prices of AEM, not current prices? The 30 day period ending 9/5/14 had a much higher SP for AEM. That means the offer of 3.79 should be pretty much set right now. goldguy.
Comment by Shylock on Sep 11, 2014 3:38pm
At the rate of ascension of the share price of Cayden it will be well above $3.79 by the time this theft is consummated.  AEM, on the other hand, is most unlikely to rise in price at a commensurate rate and even if it does go up significantly, I doubt it will approach the rate of incline of CYD. That is why this is a scam.  We are being offered a pittance for a premium gold district ...more

If we the shareholders vote against this and stop then you can expect IMO, for Cayden's price to drop back to 1.50. There is still the real possibility that GG will bid on this thing. If they don't that is telling you something right there. If it is worth billions why wouldn't GG want to buy for 500 Million or 1 Billion? Time will tell. GG is not locked out of bidding, no one is. and if you don't think CEO's do stupid things and make the same mistakes that bad investors make read this quote from an article "Goldcorp's bid to acquire Osisko marks the first major takeover tussle in the Canadian gold industry in more than a year. Shylock,   I know you're frustrated and pi$$ded-off just like the rest of us at this grab the money and run heist.   I also know that your comments about shills working to lower Caydens desirability in the hopes of picking up shares for literal pennies on the buck was directed at me. I know those are words born out of frustration, but please just stop with that nonsense.    ...more

TruthMachine1, Let's get something straight right off the bat:  lose the paranoia.  It so happens my comment was NOT made in reference to you despite your being "sure" it was.  When someone makes such a comment with absolute surety, they either have an ego issue or a crack in their crystal ball.  Which is it with you?  You are not being blamed except for ...more

Shylock, Thank you for the heart felt comments as well as the spelling error correction. How could I have been so stupid as to spell a word incorrectly and in upper-case letters at that. What a buffoon! I am also going to take your concerns on the ball-sack issue very seriously. So much so, I'm going to go schedule an appointment with my new-age cell regeneration bio-tech doctor and see if ...more

All you have to remember is you will .09 shares of AEM for each Cayden share you own. That is why you see them rise and fall together. If you do the math you will see they match exactly according to the ratio.
Comment by Scott6500shares on Sep 11, 2014 6:43pm
If you can't get this, maybe you shouldn't be investing. The price they are quoting.... the $200million was calculated as the approximate value of the deal based on the price of the shares over the last 30 days or whatever it was.. Again, all you have to know is you will get AEM shares, NOT MONEY (except for the 1 cent per share) for your CYD shares at a 9% ratio. SIMPLE. They are not ...more
