Is CAY dead?
Should I donate my shares to my brokerage company as a gift and write my investment off as a complete capital loss?

Hi Groundhog I know of a couple of folks who have done thtat.  We are now almost a year without trading.  No one responds to emails in spite of hiring John Bevilacqua as an  "Investment Consultant" which now appears to have been a bit of a smoke and mirrors activity to siphon cash off friends without them having to reallydo anything. Thanks Rusty....I think I will write it off.  I can claim "capital loss" when I donate it to my stock brokerage company, can I?  I am not sure what the Revenue Canada ruling is.

Hi Groundhog Yes - that's exactly what you do.  Your brokerage firm will indicate that they have been disposed of at zero value and then you can use that as a capital loss to apply against any of your capital gains (are you in any of our oils??) - otherwise you can carry it forward and apply it to a capital gain at some future date (which you can't do if its a capital gain - they let ...more

Hi Rusty, Thank you for your advice on the transaction ruling.  I will get rid of it today.  It will be nice to see one less red figure in my holding.  No Oils but have Nickel, Copper, Uranium and Gold. Thanks again. GH
