The Value of Allegiant

With this uptick in volume, we might be seeing the beginning of the value extraction of the spinco from the mother. In the past 2 weeks, the parent has dropped nearly $.20 per share, which would mean a share of Allegiant should be worth a dollar, all things being the same. I hope those drills they're holding back are loaded with gold to justify this, or we're going to get screwed. Either that, or we're looking at a screaming buy.

That is the question....is this a screaming buy or are we going to be left howling at the moon? At this point I've been in so long that I am thinking I might as well see this through to at least the spinout, and then evaluate again based on construction decision and other factors.  With the private placement for Allegiant they should have enough $$ to turn drills for at least a year ...more

Judging from the recent substantial decline in the share price, I would say the tax loss selling is taking place now. That would be smart for shareholders to allow for buying back in early November before the spin out.  After Allegiant is separate, Columbus will be clean for a takeout by the Russians. You wouldn't want to miss the upside from that, even though the premium will probably ...more
