China Health to install BK Clinlab in 587 hospitals

2010-12-29 09:52 ET - News Release

Mr. Kim Oishi reports

CHINA HEALTH LABS & DIAGNOSTICS LTD. SECURES BID TO INSTALL ITS TOTAL LAB SOLUTION IN 587 RURAL HOSPITALS AND CLINICS IN JILIN PROVINCE, CHINA

China Health Labs & Diagnostics Ltd. has secured a bid to install its total diagnostic lab solution, the BK Clinlab, in 587 rural hospitals in Jilin province, China. A definitive agreement setting out the final terms and conditions of the installation and support packages is expected to be completed in January, 2011.

The installations are expected to start in January, 2011, and be mostly completed by the end of July, 2011. After the completion of the installation, China Health will have installed its BK Clinlab in 797 rural hospitals and clinics in four provinces of China (Jilin, Henan, Guizhou and Liaoning), of which China Health has installed its BK Clinlab solution in 210 rural hospitals, including 124 installed in the fourth quarter of 2010, pursuant to agreements previously announced in the company's release in Stockwatch news dated Nov. 18, 2010.

"Winning the Jilin bid is a key step in achieving our goal of using our proprietary total diagnostic lab solution to establish a leading market share for medical diagnostic products and services in the underserved rural market in China," said Wilson Yao, chief executive officer of China Health. "We look forward to the opportunity to deliver reliable diagnostic services to the rural communities of Jilin, while delivering strong revenue and profit growth to our shareholders."

The BK Clinlab was developed by China Health as a suite of standard diagnostic equipments and reagents, hardware and software, for use in rural labs and supported by China Health's service network. The BK Clinlab total lab solution includes basic in-vitro diagnostic testing equipment (and complementary reagents), such as hematology analyzers, coagulation analyzers, urine analyzers, biochemistry analyzers and electrolyte analyzers. China Health has developed proprietary computer hardware and software that connects the diagnostic equipment and assists with analysis, allowing rural labs to conduct basic diagnostic tests without having patients travel long distances. As part of the BK Clinlab, a network of service centres staffed with trained technicians has and is being set up to provide support to rural labs within the service area and to provide a dependable source of reagents. As rural diagnostic facilities in China are typically underserviced and often lack even basic diagnostic capabilities, China Health believes that it is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this opportunity, as it is the first company in China to identify and create a medical laboratory solution specifically tailored to service the approximately 50,000 rural hospitals throughout China. In addition, in 2009 the Chinese government announced plans to spend 850 billion renminbi (approximately $130-billion (Canadian)) to improve health care over a three-year period, including the construction of almost 40,000 new rural hospitals and clinics.

If anyone out there is paying attention, you should read this:On November 18, 2010, CHO announced that they landed a contract to install 124 Total Lab Solutions in rural hospitals. Each lab was worth approximately $23,000 CAN$. This contract was compared to the one from Nov 18th, which means that this contract should produce approximately $13.5mm CAN$ (587 x $23,000). That's freakin' HUGE! ...more

This has all the makings of a 10 dollar stock.

Well at least one director has decided he's not going to wait to see 10 dollars before he decides to sell. Been watching this one myself for a few weeks. Friend who bought in early told me about it. Seems to have stalled at around 1.20 and I've noticed a lot selling in the last few weeks through anonymous. Which is never a good sign if you ask me. Pulled up the financials today and noticed ...more

Hi Rolly3, very good point. But if you look at the transaction, they show Disposition carried out privately. This, I think means that shares were transferred to another individual/insider/consultant etc. Thats just my guess, but i have a feeling thats what it is.  It does show that the director sold 50k at 1.10 though. In early times in deals, i've seen that certain investors/groups are ...more

Although I normally take a longer look when I see insiders selling, I'm not too worried about this. It would be a larger concern to me if more than one were headed to the exit, as well there was plenty enough volume above $1.10 for Oishi to have sold much more if he wanted to. The private disposition just looks like he had some share agreements he was fulfilling, most coming from his option ...more

Well guys you can sweep this insider selling under the rug all you want. I may not have followed this company as long as the rest of you. But in the last week that I've been following it. I would estimate that in excess of 90% of the sell orders in the last week came from an anonymous broker. So I think that all insiders have a few weeks to file their insider reports. So I predict you'll ...more

Rolly3, I dont blame you. Please keep an eye on the stock, and hopefully your opinion changes. Good luck.

I've been an insider of companies before and I have no problem with insider selling. That's why you buy stock in the first place...so you can sell it. I do have a problem if the insiders sell a whole crapload of stock which is obviously not happening here. I do completely agree that selling through house 1 is a chicken way to go. There is no need to hide the identity of who is selling ...more

VP  that's good to know. I don't think to many people would have a problem with a small or moderate amount of selling. But when you have a company that has only been around for the better part of a few months. And you see 90% or more of the selling over a period of a week or more. Coming from an anonymous seller. I don't think that investors could be blamed for being suspicious ...more
